The terms.
Draft for legal review. This page describes how MASTRD works today. A lawyer will review it before launch, and it may change.
The agreement
These terms are between you and the founder of MASTRD (legal name and address to be confirmed before launch) ("we"). By using MASTRD you agree to them and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to every App Store app. Where the two differ, these terms add to Apple's, and Apple's take priority on anything about the App Store.
Who can use MASTRD
You must be 13 or older; if Apple later reports an account as under 13, the app blocks it and the account can be deleted. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and is responsible for your use, including purchases.
Subscriptions
- Your first lesson is free. New lessons and circles need a subscription: $69.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or $12.99 a month. Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows your local price.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings: your name, then Subscriptions.
- If you cancel during the free trial, you aren't charged. The app can remind you two days before the trial ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Family Sharing is on for both plans. When a subscription ends, the app is locked until you subscribe again, including lessons, refreshers, circles and the parent dashboard; your progress stays on your iPhone.
Offer codes and referrals
- Offer codes work as the App Store describes when you redeem them, and only once per Apple Account.
- When a friend you invited makes their first real payment (not a free trial), you can claim one free month of your plan. It applies at your next renewal. Up to 12 a year.
- If you're a teen on a parent's Family Sharing plan, the month goes to the family plan, and the paying parent can claim it in their own app within 90 days.
- Free months have no cash value and can't be transferred. We may withhold them if codes are misused, for example with fake accounts.
Circles and conduct
Circles are private and small. In them, and anywhere in MASTRD, don't:
- harass, threaten or bully anyone, or name a circle in a way that does;
- pretend to be someone else, or claim an age you aren't;
- share other people's personal information;
- try to contact or approve teens you don't know, or get around a parent's approval;
- guess, sell or misuse invite, link or referral codes;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or overload the app or its servers.
We may remove a circle or close an account that breaks these rules. Report a problem with the contact form.
What the lessons are
MASTRD is education. Lessons describe ideas from founders, executives and research, credited to their sources; no source endorses MASTRD. Nothing in MASTRD is financial, investment, legal, medical or mental-health advice, and we make no promise about results, income or wealth. Money lessons cover general basics and never recommend a specific investment. Talk to a qualified professional about your own situation.
Our content
The lessons, design and brand belong to us or the people we license them from. You may use MASTRD for yourself and share the cards it makes. Don't copy or republish lessons in bulk.
Ending
You can stop at any time and delete your account in Profile. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or the law, or if we stop offering MASTRD; if we stop it, we'll say so in the app first.
Warranties and liability
To the extent the law allows, MASTRD is provided as is, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability is limited to what you paid for MASTRD in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
Governing law
Governing law: the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live somewhere that gives you the right to use your local courts and consumer laws, you keep that right.
Changes and contact
If we change these terms, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before a change that matters takes effect. Questions: send us a message.
